Complete Service

Besides repairing, I also do a complete service of the tape echoes. The difference is that everything of the tape echo is now taken care of. The entire interior is cleaned and made dust-free. The motor is completely cleaned. With a Dynacord All transistors are replaced for more modern and quieter BC549 NPN and BC559 PNP transistors. All capacitors (electrolytic capacitors) are replaced. The super 75 and 76 have 60 electrolytic capacitors compared to the mini and the echocord 100. They have 25. This also applies to the transistors, 21 versus 13. You understand that there is twice as much time and material in the super 75 and 76. This makes the complete service more expensive. The electrolytics are the 105 degrees types and have a long life.

For all other  brands of tape echo’s it is the same story only with different transistors !  

The running mechanism is checked and adjusted. Rubber pinch roller and plastic guide rollers are possibly replaced when they have become unusable (these are included in the complete service price) The heads are cleaned with isopropanol alchohol, demagnetized and adjusted.

The potentiometers are all cleaned (rinsed, no contact spray) and made scratch free. Should a potentiometer be defective, it will be replaced for an alternative with adjustments. The original potmeters are no longer made. The faceplate is cleaned, the housing is polished and shines like new again.

You can choose to have the tape echo completely serviced if it is defective or just repaired (see page repair) You can also choose to have your working tape echo completely serviced so it will last for years again and is also quieter because of the modern transistors (this does not affect the 'sound' by the way)

Some people also use only the preamps because they have a 'creamy sound' and character of their own.
